Address: | 3533 South Giles Avenue |
Community: | Douglas |
Ward: | 3 |
Description: | Mayor Daley cut the ribbon to open the new addition on September 10, 2002. Construction of the $16 million addition, which will add 15 class-rooms to the popular high school and extend the campus north to 35th Street, will be completed in 2002. The design will fit better into the surrounding 35th Street commercial district thanks to a cooperative effort by the Public Building Commission and the community. At the request of the Bronzeville Merchants Association, the PBC redesigned the appearance of the new addition to make its 35th Street side more architecturally inviting, adding wide windows on the first floor and an entrance on that side of the building |
